Yaeko Medeiros

Yaeko Hirakawa Medeiros, 87, of Honomu died June 20, 2013, in Springfield, Ill. Born Dec. 1, 1925, in Honohina, she was a retired Hilo Hospital employee and member of the Honomu Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. July 9 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10 a.m. service. Burial follows at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by son, Bruce (Sylvia) Ishibashi of Honolulu; daughters, Linda (Duane) Meyer of Chatham, Ill., Betsy (Carl) Tanoue of Hilo, Velma (Florencio) Batin of Ookala; sisters, Tamae Shindo of Hilo, Kay Ishii of Honomu, Satsuki (Carl) Nemoto of Honolulu; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
